+ Clarence Schawk +

It is with sadness that we share news that Clarence Schawk, CLEF founding board member and great supporter of Lutheran education in Chicago, has died. Clarence passed away on Saturday, September 20 from pneumonia, a complication of his courageous battle with cancer. He was 88.   We extend our sympathy to his wife Marilyn, the entire Schawk family and all whose lives were touched by Clarence's extraordinary wisdom, faith, and generosity.

A Memorial Service will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church, 6201 W Patterson, Chicago, 60634 on Saturday, October 4, at 11 am.
Clarence had a passion for Lutheran education, and lived his faith in action. Through the Clarence W. and Marilyn G. Schawk Foundation, he and Marilyn were tremendous supporters of Chicagoland Lutheran Educational Foundation.  Clarence's clarity of vision and generosity have helped CLEF continue and grow as a resource for Chicago's Lutheran schools.  Clarence has touched countless lives through numerous scholarships, teacher salary bonuses, the LEAPS partnership with Valparaiso University, security upgrades, gift cards to families in need at Christmas, technology upgrades such as  SMART Boards and the eSpark learning program, and so much more.
Please join us as we celebrate a life of extraordinary service to the Lord.
