Welcome to St. John’s Lutheran School!

For nearly 150 years, St. John’s has been blessed to provide a quality Christian education in a safe, nurturing environment on the northwest side of Chicago. I am thrilled to welcome you into our supportive school community.

At St. John’s, we focus on the whole child: educationally, spiritually, and emotionally. Our core curriculum in Preschool – 8th grade helps students grow at their own pace, while our 1:15 teacher-to-student ratio ensures individualized attention and academic success. As a result, our students consistently score above national norms, and 95% of graduates are accepted into their first-choice high school.

Just as important as academics, our faith in Jesus Christ is at the heart of everything we do. Students deepen their knowledge of Scripture, grow together in weekly chapel, and learn the joy of serving others through regular mission projects. Christian fellowship is central to building character, and our students experience firsthand the blessing of living out their faith.

We also prioritize the emotional well-being of each child. Our teachers build positive relationships with students and guide them in developing healthy ways to understand and manage emotions. We want every child to feel loved, cared for, and supported at St. John’s.

Thank you for considering St. John’s Lutheran School for your child’s education. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions. We look forward to partnering with you for your child's education!

With joy in Christ,
Michelle Runge, Principal

What Sets St. John's Apart?

Above all else, we are a Christ-centered elementary school. We seek to honor God in everything that we do and aim to spread the love of Jesus to each student.

We provide a safe and nurturing environment for students to grow. We embrace our culturally diverse student body, and our staff truly cares about each child. We want every person that walks through our doors to know that they are loved by God.

Our "Whole Child" approach not only emphasizes the academic growth, but also the spiritual, emotional, social, and physical development of each child. Our goal is for students to graduate with the tools they need to expand their learning and to become loving, service-oriented citizens of the world.

MISSION

St. John's Lutheran School exists to provide a Christ-centered education in a safe environment to a culturally diverse student body that engages the whole child through an innovative academic program that promotes a love of learning and a life of service.

VISION

St. John’s will be known for equipping learners from diverse backgrounds to become empathetic and loving citizens who positively impact their community and world by living out the Gospel of Jesus through a life of service.
